Kids should come dressed in athletic wear or a leotard - think something you could stretch in comfortably! Longer hair should be pulled back as it gets in the way otherwise. We do not wear shoes or socks during class; feet should be uncovered (so no tights).
The only thing that is needed is a bottle of water to hydrate with throughout class.
Class space is limited to five kids per class.
I have taught all the way from three year olds to thirteen year olds - everyone is welcome! Classes are split up by age from 4-6 year olds and 6+ as it creates the safest, most interactive learning environment for everyone involved.
In our hour long classes we will practice on the balance beam, the bar, and on mats. We will run, learn different jumps and turns, swing on the bar and tumble on the floor - so be ready to have lots of sporty fun!
Nope! Class content is tailored to each student individually - they are met wherever they are at! All they need to come with is a ready-to-learn attitude :D
Drop off is encouraged, but parents are welcome to stay if preferred. If you choose to stay and need to bring a sibling along, please have something quiet for them to do so class is not disrupted. If you are to stay, please do not cheer them on with anything other than encouragement; guiding the child in class is my responsibility and it is distracting for everyone involved when parents tell them what to do.
Yes. All children participating in gymnastics classes need to have a waiver filled out, signed, and returned before they can join class. A waiver will be emailed to you upon admission.
Everyone comes to class at different levels and with different abilities. All kids will learn the foundations: how to roll and jump on the floor, how to walk and balance on the beam, how to swing and hold themself up on the bar. Then we move on from there and have fun doing it! We will learn how to do bridges, handstands, cartwheels, round offs, leaps, and jumps on the floor, pull overs, casts, back hip circles, stride circles, and swings on the bar, and walks, kicks, turns, handstands, dismounts, and jumps on the beam. There are so many things to learn in gymnastics that the list is really never-ending!
Classes are held in the Almonte District Improvement Club. The address is 105 Wisteria Way in Mill Valley.
SO MUCH!!! I thoroughly love teaching kids this sport. I have done gymnastics since I was ten years old and have taught since 2019! It is incredibly rewarding to watch a child grow up and learn new skills over weeks, months, or even years that I am able to work with them.
