Have a question about classes? Find all your answers below.
-
How many kids are in one class?Class space is limited to five kids per class.
-
What ages can join the classes?I have taught all the way from three year olds to thirteen year olds - everyone is welcome! Classes are split up by age from 4-6 year olds and 6+ as it creates the safest, most interactive learning environment for everyone involved.
-
Do I need to sign a waiver for my child to participate?Yes. All children participating in gymnastics classes need to have a waiver filled out, signed, and returned before they can join class. A waiver will be emailed to you upon admission.
-
What should my child wear to class?Kids should come dressed in athletic wear or a leotard - think something you could stretch in comfortably! Longer hair should be pulled back as it gets in the way otherwise. We do not wear shoes or socks during class; feet should be uncovered (so no tights).
-
Do you enjoy your work?SO MUCH!!! I thoroughly love teaching kids this sport. I have done gymnastics since I was ten years old and have taught since 2019! It is incredibly rewarding to watch a child grow up and learn new skills over weeks, months, or even years that I am able to work with them.
-
What should my child bring to class? The only thing that is needed is a bottle of water to hydrate with throughout class.
-
What does a class entail? In our hour long classes we will practice on the balance beam, the bar, and on mats. We will run, learn different jumps and turns, swing on the bar and tumble on the floor - so be ready to have lots of sporty fun!
-
Where are classes held?Classes are held in the Almonte District Improvement Club. The address is 105 Wisteria Way in Mill Valley.
-
Does my child need to know any gymnastics before attending class?Nope! Class content is tailored to each student individually - they are met wherever they are at! All they need to come with is a ready-to-learn attitude :D
-
Can parents, nannies, siblings, etc. stay and watch?Drop off is encouraged, but parents are welcome to stay if preferred. If you choose to stay and need to bring a sibling along, please have something quiet for them to do so class is not disrupted. If you are to stay, please do not cheer them on with anything other than encouragement; guiding the child in class is my responsibility and it is distracting for everyone involved when parents tell them what to do.
-
What will my child learn in class?Everyone comes to class at different levels and with different abilities. All kids will learn the foundations: how to roll and jump on the floor, how to walk and balance on the beam, how to swing and hold themself up on the bar. Then we move on from there and have fun doing it! We will learn how to do bridges, handstands, cartwheels, round offs, leaps, and jumps on the floor, pull overs, casts, back hip circles, stride circles, and swings on the bar, and walks, kicks, turns, handstands, dismounts, and jumps on the beam. There are so many things to learn in gymnastics that the list is really never-ending!
-
How much does each class cost? Each class costs $25 per child attending.
-
What forms of payment do you accept?Payment can be sent through Venmo, Zelle, or by cash or check. Additional information will be provided upon sign up.
-
Will a refund be issued if we miss a day?No; missed classes will be added to the make-up list and you will be notified when a spot becomes available that your child can join.
-
Do I pay class-by-class or for the month as a whole?Payment is due for the entire month at the beginning of each month unless your child is participating in a trial class.
-
When is payment due?Payment is due for the entire month's classes (or for your trial class) on the first of each month. Payment in-full is what holds your child's spot in the class so, it is important to complete it in a timely manner so their spot is not given to another on the waitlist.
-
Is there a waitlist if all of the classes are full?Yes! Openings can be hard to come by so any child that would like to participate, but can't at the time of initially reaching out will be placed on the waitlist and you will be notified when a spot becomes available. My classes fill up FAST so be sure to submit a Sign Up form as soon as you can, especially if you would like to enroll more than one child. A few spots generally open up month-to-month and those first on the waitlist will be offered a chance to join in. Once notified, you will have two days to respond before the next family is offered the opening.
-
What happens if we will miss our scheduled class? Please text or email me as soon as you know your child will not be in attendance that day so that a make-up credit may be issued to another family. You will then be placed on the make-up list and notified when a spot becomes available in another class.
-
Do class schedules reset each month?Once your child/children are signed up for a spot for the month then they are kept in that time slot each following month. If you would like to change classes or put a pause on your enrollment, then contact me as soon as possible and we can work that out!
-
Can I make up a class if we miss a day?Yes! If a class is missed (due to any circumstance) you will be placed on a list and promptly notified when a spot becomes available that your kiddo can jump in.
-
Can I sign up more than one of my children at a time?Of course! We have many siblings join in the gymnastics classes together; it is a great way to get the whole family involved in an activity together!
-
Can we try out a class before we commit to a month?Yes! If your kiddo is interested in trying out a gymnastics class, but does not know if they will like it, they are welcome to do a trial class first. Each trial class is the cost of a normally scheduled session - $20. NOTE: Admittance into a trial class does not guarantee a scheduled spot for the whole month's classes. A monthly spot will need to be scheduled after your trial class has occurred.
-
Are private lessons offered? No; private lessons are not offered at this time. Each class has a maximum of 5 children enrolled at once and each child's abilities will be taken into account so there is little need for individual lessons :)
-
What happens if a class falls on or near a holiday? We usually just skip those weeks of class that fall on or near a holiday and pick back up after. Occasionally during stretches of time like school breaks we will make those weeks optional. You pay for the month as a whole, but only for the number of classes in each month so you are not paying for weeks where there is no class.
-
How long are classes? Each class is one hour long.
-
Can I sign my child up for more than one class per week?Sure! As space permits, your kiddo can join in as many classes as they would like.
-
How are classes scheduled?Classes can either be signed up for by the month or as a trial class (one class). Your child comes at their scheduled time on their scheduled day.
